Given one of my planned costumes for Dragon*Con this year and four pics I commissioned on devArt, I figured now's as good a time as any to publicly explain myself.

Over the last year or so, I've been working on- or at least formulating ideas for- a series of fanfics. Not one long epic (in the literal sense) but several that are connected. No, I'm not committing to a specific number- however many there end up being, will be. Basically, it will begin as a "Harry Potter" fic, with several characters (Sirius, Remus, the Golden Trio, and the Weasley Twins included) moving to the DC metro area (specifically, northern Virginia)- thus I call it "the DC Series". Eventually, the series becomes a big crossover, primarily between HP, "NCIS", and "Criminal Minds" with other characters from other stuff putting in occasional appearances. Canon cuts off at different points for each series, and creative liberties are still taken throughout.

No, this won't be one of those annoying "I'm just gonna combine anything and everything I love into one big fanfic Katamari" thing. I can tell you now that characters from classic Nintendo games will make no appearance (that's actually another crossover series I'm doing), nor will any Disney characters, the Peanuts gang, anyone from any incarnation of "Star Trek", or anyone from the "Avatar" franchise. If they do, they will be referenced as fictional (somebody playing "Ocarina of Time" or owning a Snoopy doll for example). Also, nobody is secretly someone else from another series, not even if the two characters are/were played by the same actor (the mere fact a section at Fanfiction.net for crossovers between "Criminal Minds" and "Dharma & Greg" exists demonstrates what I mean well enough). Nor are any two characters from different series of origin related to one another (like the infamous fic where the Gundam Wing pilots are the sons of various HP characters or (combined with the aforementioned "the two different characters are actually the same person" thing) Dr. Reid is the son of every other character Jane Lynch- who did play his mother in five episodes of CM- has ever played). There will, however, be some crossover romance. To be honest, this was the thing I was most wary of,  especially given how... protective a good chunk of the HP fandom is over certain canon pairings (and one insanely popular non-canon pairing whose fans scare me, thus I can never get behind it in any way). So, to test the waters, I commissioned two pics each for these pairings from artists on deviantArt. Yes, spoilers, but I know lots of people actually don't like surprises as far as pairings in fanfics. Besides, keep in mind this series begins in 1994 and continues to beyond the present day- time enough for the characters involved to have been in other pairings, too (and still be monogamous). Here are the pics: 1, 2, 3, 4

Yes, Harry/Abby and Tonks/Reid. Those pairings will occur at some point in the DC Series, but I'll at least leave the how, when, and fates (including the existence of offspring) to myself and very few others for now. I should also mention that romance (involving those pairings and others) isn't everything in the DC Series. For example, there's still the issue of how Voldemort gets defeated in this alternate universe, the BAU still has cases to solve (and I will do my best to write said cases as if they were actual CM episodes), and the kids may no longer be at Hogwarts but are still in school at first (and eventually go to college- yes, even Ron, he becoming the first Weasley to do so- thus more not-necessarily-romantic plot fodder there). I've been told that I should post the stories in the order the events therein occur rather than the order I actually complete them, so that's what I'll do. I will of course post links to each story (and each chapter if applicable) as they're published.

As for what this has to do with my Dragon*Con plans I mentioned, I got invited to a bachelorette party (or hen party if you prefer) taking place on the Thursday of the con, thus most if not all the guests would be in cosplay. Rather than drag out my old "Bride Mai" costume (which I no longer have the wig for anyway), I bought a set of PJs with "Mrs. Spencer Reid" on the shirt, asked to borrow a friend's wig, bought clip-in hair pieces in many colors, and plan to get a pair of "bride" flip-flops. This isn't necessarily how Tonks will look at her bachelorette party when I get to it in the DC Series (assuming she even has one), but that's the idea.

Oh right, I did mention actually working on- or at least formulating ideas for- another HP crossover series. Well, that's another entry.
